Mirissa

A crescent beach with palms and whale-watching boats.

A curve of golden sand backed by palms, Mirissa is the classic southern beach. Climb Coconut Tree Hill for the view, or spend the day doing very little.

Just offshore, the continental shelf drops away sharply, bringing blue whales close to the coast. From roughly November to April, boats leave at dawn to look for them.
